Putting Out the Winter Automotive Products

Posted by Auto Lover  Published in Parts & Accessories

With winter fast approaching, it is time to change the products on our shelves.  Instead of carrying summer windshield washer fluid (for example), we start carrying the winter variety.  Yes, it is one of the two big times of the year (spring and fall) where our product selection changes, and that is about as exciting as it gets around here.

But this year we will be trying out some new promotions to get people into the store to buy Christmas presents.  There seems to always be a car buff in everyone’s family, and we are looking to cater to them this year.  I don’t know why we haven’t done this in the past, but this year every bit of extra money in the coffers will help.

So, we are putting everything from steering wheel covers to gift certificates on sale this winter season to try and drum up some new sales.  We are even getting the staff to dress up for the season and most of us will be wearing Santa hats to show some holiday spirit.

I just hope that things go well since this year hasn’t been too stellar for the shop – with slumping sales all we can do is pray that we can stay open – hopefully this Christmas season will be a good one.

Getting Ready for the Race This Weekend

Posted by Auto Lover  Published in Parts & Accessories

One of the things that I am guilty for is speeding.  The rush that you get from driving fast is like nothing else in the world, and I try whenever I can to drive as fast I can go.  But after a few speeding tickets, I have been keeping my need for speed to the racetrack, and that is one of the smartest things that I have ever done.

During summer, the local racetrack has races every weekend and I make sure to enter as many as I can.  I have been working two jobs so that I have enough money to buy the Ford Racing parts that I need to ensure that my Ford Mustang wins most of its races.  It is definitely an investment, but usually it is worth it.

But now that I have been eyeing some Mitsubishi cars, I have to make a decision as to whether or not I should buy a new car or stick with what I have.  They have some nice rides, and it would be nice to have a sleeker car than the Mustang, but I am not sure if that is the right idea.  There aren’t many parts dealers around in the area, so I might have issues customizing a Mitsubishi car if I got one.

Really, I should just be focusing on tuning my car for this weekend - if I win, the prize money will be enough that I can take a much needed vacation.

The Little Things

Posted by Auto Lover  Published in Parts & Accessories

Sometimes the details are more important than the grosser facts.  A well-decorated house that’s a little smaller is a lot more comfortable than a larger but plainer counterpart.  Cars are the same way.  People certainly notice the qualities and brand of a car, but it takes thousands of dollars to make an impression this way.  On the other hand, things that are unique and customized, such as an eight ball shifter, eye-catching pedals, seat covers, etc. can grab attention and really be memorable.  Also, the make of your car doesn’t say much about you, other than how much money you’re willing and able to spend on your car.

Details can make a personal statement.  Toyota accessories, for example, can be found online at reasonable prices.  Don’t worry; you can find genuine Toyota parts online, not just generic and shoddy merchandise.  Once you start perusing the options, you’ll see that there are myriad combinations possible.  There’s no trouble in finding a set of decorations and flair that is quite unique to your own style.  Toyota parts of a more practical nature can also be found in abundance.  Gizmos to make your engine run faster, smoother, cooler, quieter, or whatever else you need.

Off Road With A Camry?

Posted by OttoMotive  Published in Parts & Accessories

toyota-1When you go to buy a car, know that you will probably be able to find what you need no matter what brand you buy. For those who go Toyota, wholesale Toyota parts are even available online these days, making the price even lower than it would have otherwise been.

This takes a lot of the uncertainty out of the car buying process and gives you the power to know that in the unfortunate case that something bad happens, you will have the ability to get your car back up and running again.

I had to go online a few days ago to check out some camry parts: mufflers. I took my car for a little off-roading, not a great idea for a Toyota Camry, but oh well. Do any of you have good off-roading or 4×4-ing stories?

Good Reasons to Buy Used Cars

Posted by pattya  Published in Parts & Accessories

When you are shopping for a vehicle to purchase, weigh the advantages and disadvantages of buying a used car instead of a new one. Some of the best cars can be found on the used car lots of Weatherford or Fort Worth auto dealers. You can check a reputable buying guide for the many reasons to buy used cars and also some of them are listed below.

One of the best reasons to buy a used vehicle is that you can be assured that it will not suffer depreciation as soon as you leave the lot, like it happens with the new cars in Weatherford. Many of the used cars that are on the lot of the Fort Worth car dealer will be just as good as a new vehicle. Used vehicles are usually quite a bit less expensive than new vehicles, sometimes up to 30 percent less. Even if the used car is just a year old it would still be cheaper than buying a new one.

Another excellent reason to buy a used car is the advantage of paying a lower insurance premium than for a brand new vehicle. Also, many auto dealerships can offer certification that the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected by professional technicians. Coupling all of that together with the fact that most used cars will even come with a warranty makes buying a used car a very smart decision.

Catching a Hit and Run Driver

Posted by OttoMotive  Published in Parts & Accessories

I was on the freeway coming home from work the other day when I saw an accident. Several cars up somebody went shooting across from the left lane for no apparent reason, and they ran another guy off of the road causing him to hit a sign. A couple people stopped to see if the guy who hit the sign was alright, but the guy who ran him off the road kept going. Nobody was going after the hit and run driver, so I took chase.

So there I am in my work truck going as fast as it will go down the freeway with the truck tool boxes and truck rack. It must have been a sight to see. My truck was not fast enough to catch all the way up with this guy’s car, but I was able to keep him in my sights for a few miles. That is when he got off of the freeway at an off ramp. I caught up to him just long enough to get his license plates and then I called 911. An officer called me the next morning to tell me that they had arrested the hit and run driver and to tell me that the guy who hit the sign was OK. While I might not be some kind of big hero, that did make me feel pretty good.

Know How a New Part will Benefit your Truck

Posted by pattya  Published in Parts & Accessories

It can be tempting to get into customizing your truck because it seems everyone is doing it.  However, you really should not start customizing your truck until you know what you want.  You should do an inventory to see what parts need replaced and which parts you would like to replace.  You should make a list of things that must be done and those that you simply want to do.

You should also be aware of how making replacements will affect your truck.  Some parts may influence the performance of your truck while others may change the appearance.  It is a good idea to know what changes will do to your truck.

Lastly, get to know some of the major names in the truck part industry.  You should be familiar with names like Quadzilla, Mag Hytec and Edge Products before you ever buy your first part.  This will help you to choose the best parts. You can always talk to others you know who are into customizing and see what tips they have to help you get started.

Customizing your truck is a fun activity.  If you like mechanical things or simply just want to make your truck look and perform better than truck customizing is probably going to be something you enjoy.

Tough-Looking Truck Accessories

Posted by aMart  Published in Parts & Accessories

chevyblitzMost stock pickup trucks — that is, the way the truck looks right off the showroom floor — just aren’t that tough looking.  Since what a lot of enthusiastic truck owners want is a tough-looking truck, many turn to aftermarket truck accessories to help them achieve the look they want.

Here are some of my favorite tough-looking pickup truck accessories:

  • STK’s Pro Rack, are great for both form and functionality.  These are heavy-duty metal racks that bolt onto the truck bed right behind the cab’s rear window.  They protect the cab’s rear window (and the passengers inside) from being broken by whatever you are hauling.  However they also give a truck a tough appearance — particularly when paired with a light bar and several Hella lights!
  • A push bar or brush guard. Brush guards and push bars are aggressive-looking aftermarket bumpers for trucks.  They can be found in chrome or painted finishes, and also have a functional purpose — they protect the front of your truck from damage if you bump or hit something with the front end.
  • Light accessories. Driving lights, fog lights, and other types of truck lights are extremely popular and give your truck an aggressive appearance.  These lights can often be mounted on push bars and brush guards in front of the grille, as well as on light bars above the cab.

There are lots of ways to make your truck look tougher and more aggressive than its stock appearance.  I suggest getting a catalog of truck accessories or checking out the selection from an online seller.  Have fun with it!
